Eugenia KOVATCHEVA

Researcher & Artist

Dr. Kovatcheva is a professor at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT). She is a Research Policy Director and co-chair of the UNESCO chair ICT in Library Studies, Education and Cultural Heritage.

Her background is in mathematics, robotics and educational technologies. Her areas of interest are UX design, Interdisciplinary applied research and innovation, Information, Knowledge and Innovation Management, and the application of ICT in Education and Cyber Security.

Eugenia is a member of: FIWARE Scientific Advisory Board; International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) - representative for Bulgaria for the Technical Committee 3: Education; Global community of practice for ICT in education EDUsummIT; Israeli Association for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (IAEAI) Scientific Council, Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE).

Dr. Kovatcheva has participated in more than 80 EU and National projects for the transfer of innovations in ICT in education and smart services. She has coordinated 4 Erasmus+ projects and one funded by the European Union-NextGenerationEU through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria project № BG-RRP-2.005-0003.

In more than 100 papers, 10 books, and textbooks, she has shared her experience in applying ICT under specific objectives.

Eugenia has visited lecturers at the University of Electro-Communication, Tokyo, Japan; Academy Kokshetau, Kazakhstan; University of Middlesex, UK; University of Urbino, Italy; University of Aveiro, Portugal; and University of Thessaly, Greece and is an Adjunct Professor at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India
